Sam's Restaurant and Cafe

Sam's Restaurant and Cafe, 765 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD, 301-424-1600 (Metro Trip Planner - opens in new window) [WaPo | openlist | Yelp | Gayot]

Stews, kabobs, lamb shank, special rice dishes. Sounds pretty good, I have yet to go, one reader claims they make the best gelato in the DC area.

I go here all the time for their homemade gelato - it is fantastic! But the restaurant is mediocre with absolutely horrendous slow service. Stick to the gelato and the grocery store items.

Okay, I never review restaurants but I am going to make an exception.

We walked in at 7 pm dinner time, nobody was there but two old couple who probably lost their taste buds and that's why they were eating there.

Dinner buffet 11.95. You get some crappy green rice with mint, more green crappy mush with bits of strange meat. Some brown beans with crappy flavor to it. Some "grilled" chicken thighs and no white meat...I guess Safeway had a special on just dark meat. The chicken was tasteless and crappy. The last dish was meatballs that tasted like wet crap and most likely store bought.

Now to the cold dishes, hummus was "green". I think green is a theme at that place. They had taboulah that was dry and probably stored from the night before or the week before...who knows. Should i keep going.

It was sad and I was pissed off. I even asked for the manager to complain about the food...nobody bothered to come.

So if you want to waste your money on a fake middle eastern place or Indian place then go to this place.
Otherwise take your 11.95 to moby dick on Wisconsin and have a moby dick combo.

Horrible place do not go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The past reviewers probably are blind and cannot even see the book cover to judge it.
